Hardscapes

Hardscapes are defined as any permanent structure built for your landscape. Hardscapes are designed to add function, usefulness, added outdoor living space, and long lasting beauty to your property. We use a variety of building materials such as wood, stone, brick, interlocking blocks and pavers to construct a variety of hardscapes including:

  • Retaining Walls
  • Sitting Walls
  • Walkways
  • Pathways
  • Patios
  • Fire Pits
  • Outdoor Water Features
  • Outdoor Stairs

We use both the crisp, uniform shape of stones that are cut by craftsmen for a more formal feel, and, we also use uncut stones to give a more natural feel of stone and rock that is only sculpted by nature.

Patios and Walkways

Patios and walkways can add continuity and flow between your house and garden. Such architectural additions to your landscape can be created from concrete, brick, wood, or from concrete pavers and stone. We can create your patio and walkway from whichever material that you feel best meets your personal taste, budget, and your landscaping needs. One material used for building patios and walkways that is currently very popular is interlocking concrete pavers.

Concrete pavers can provide a durable and beautiful alternative to concrete or asphalt for patios, walkways, driveways, and fountains. The use of pavers provides numerous options for size, shape, color, and texture. Also, less cracking (as what often happens with concrete) occurs with the use of pavers because the surface is more flexible and able to withstand loads from traffic, wear, and weather. Moreover, if problems underground that require excavation occur, the pavers can simply be removed and later replaced.

Our landscape team is just as experienced in the proper design and installation of concrete pavers for your patio and/or walkways as we are with the use of brick, concrete, stone, and wood.

Retaining Walls/Privacy Walls/Sitting Walls

Sloping sites can benefit from the construction of retaining walls to provide more level areas for planting, recreation, and other uses as well as to help with erosion and runoff. Landscaping walls can also serve to give definition by outlining your property, add additional privacy to your lot, or to add additional seating for guests through a sitting wall. We can design and build retaining walls, privacy walls and sitting walls for your landscape using a variety of materials including timbers, stacked stone, and interlocking blocks.

Outdoor Water Features

You can enjoy the tranquil and relaxing sounds and movement of flowing water in your landscape by adding an outdoor fountain, waterfall, or pond. Our team of professionals can design and install an array of outdoor water features with varying sizes and styles to your property. From a stately brick or stacked stone water fountain to a calming water pond or a breathtaking waterfall, the possibilities are endless.

Outdoor Steps

Outdoor steps can be one of the most functional structures of your property. We can also make them beautiful. Steps not only allow you easier and safer access to all areas of your property. But, they also help to cut down on the wear and tear of your grounds, grasses, and plantings by redirecting foot traffic safely away.

Outdoor Living Spaces and Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor Living is a term used by landscapers and designers where your property is designed to add additional living space to your outdoors. Through the design and construction of arbors, trellises, patios, conversation nooks, outdoor dining areas, and outdoor kitchens and barbeques, we can create valuable additional space for entertaining and family gatherings within your backyard. Moreover, we can design and install an outdoor kitchen complete with water, electrical, and gas hook-ups. If you are preparing food for a family cookout or preparing food for a large crowd, an outdoor kitchen is a cooler way to keep the chef in the middle of the festivities and not hidden away in a hot kitchen.

Outdoor Fireplaces and Fire Pits

An outdoor fire pit or fireplace not only adds a stately focal point for your backyard, it also adds a year-round cozy spot or "outdoor room" for conversations and gatherings for your family, friends, or just for you and  your spouse. Call us today so that we can discuss with you the many size, design, and building material options which we can use to add this wonderful feature to your outdoor living space.
